The Bush Foundation is proud to introduce the 2019 Bush Prize for Community Innovation winners: five organizations with a track record of successful problem solving in their communities.

Bush Prize finalists come to life in the “due diligence” part of the selection process, which includes reference calls, a site visit to each finalist to meet with staff and partners, and a look at the organization’s financial picture. 

The Bush Fellowship is a recognition of your accomplishments and support for your potential. It is an investment in you, so that you can make a difference in your community. 

One of the hard things about applying for a Bush Fellowship is that you are writing your application for folks who don’t know you. Your written application is your opportunity to help us understand how the significant moments in your life set the course for who you are today.

We’ve been working for several years to operate more inclusively within our organization. We’ve been working to understand the equity implications of all we do, big and small, in our grantmaking and operations. One of the toughest stages in doing equity work within any organization is jumping from training room conversations to action.

Next year marks our fifth bushCONNECT, to be held on October 4-5, 2020, at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis. It takes a village to create bushCON and we’re looking for the partners who will co-create the experience and make it our best ever leadership and networking event!

In my role leading the Bush Fellowship applicant experience, I am often asked: What is a strong track record? When it comes to track record, many applicants talk about their record of success in terms of the positions, titles or awards they have earned. Yet, a strong track record is not just a list of degrees and accolades. 

We're pleased to announce new partners to help us advance art as central to problem solving in our region, as well as a new commitment to ArtPlace America.

Leadership is fundamentally about your effect on others. Which is why getting great at managing up (and out) is one of my very top suggestions for how to prepare yourself for future leadership roles.
