Marie C. Pillai

Vice President: Treasurer and Chief Investment Officer, General Mills (Retired)

Marie Pillai was Vice President, Treasurer & Chief Investment Officer (CIO) at General Mills when she retired in 2019. Over her 11 year CIO tenure, she oversaw the management of a $10 billion portfolio including pension, 401(K), health care and General Mills Foundation assets. As Treasurer, she was responsible for global Treasury operations – cash, ratings, financing of acquisitions, deleveraging. Prior to joining General Mills, Marie served as CIO for Siemens’ U.S. businesses, overseeing all aspects of their pension and 401(K) portfolios.

Marie began her career at Procter & Gamble, where she progressed through a wide range of leadership roles during her 16-year tenure, including category management, international operations, systems, brands, manufacturing and global retirement plan asset management.

She is a Trustee of the Putnam Mutual Funds, a Director of Choice Bank, a Senior Advisor to Hunter Street Partners, and serves on the Board of the Archdiocese of St. Paul & Minneapolis.

Previously, was on the Curriculum Committee of the Center for Board Certified Fiduciaries.

Previous non-profit service includes: University of Minnesota, Catholic Community Foundation and Catholic Charities of St. Paul and Minneapolis.

Education includes: St. Xavier’s College in India, B.A.; Temple University, M.A. in Economics; Case Western University, M.B.A. in Finance and Marketing.
