My understanding of my own leadership through my Fellowship to date is indeed a mixed bag. I have explored and expanded many new areas of my leadership, by connecting with many leaders of different leadership styles and cultures. I have also learned the limitations of leadership and the need to constantly seek out allies to move and affect change in areas of common concern. The focus on my own leadership changed the way I lead from relying on my personal resources to relying on cultivated network of allies to address leadership goals. Connecting and learning from other leaders of diverse cultures also enabled me to draw from a well of knowledge and data informed leadership style that is more persuasive in accomplishing leadership goals.
I now consider self-care in sustaining my ability to lead indispensable to effective sustainable leadership. I have learned to make a habit of scheduling self-care as needed to keep my leadership at high level of efficacy.
