Minneapolis, MN — The hierarchical nonprofit governance structure—a board of directors with little to no meaningful community input—creates barriers to social impact. In the Minnesota Muslim community, our full potential and contributions have been unrealized due to this ineffective model. During my fellowship, and through my work at MuslimBuddy, Inc., I will research, develop and implement a community-organization governance model that fosters community-building and cultivates responsive organizations that value, listen and act upon community voices within the Minnesota Muslim community.
