Brooklyn Center, MN — Latino culture does not recognize barriers to school success, such as mental health problems or learning disabilities. Even when Latino families recognize that there is a disability, most are not aware what their rights are for accessing services in their schools. My goal is to educate Latino families about these different learning barriers and to empower them to be advocates for their children in the school and wider community. I want to bridge the gap between Latino families and the mental health resources available in our schools and in our community.
