Andover, MN — Native Nations Rebuilders Program (cohort 6) - Reid grew up in Pierre, South Dakota. In 2002, Reid graduated from the University of Minnesota-Morris and is a 2005 cum laude graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School. He is the 2001 Truman Scholar from the State of South Dakota. Reid works as an attorney and lobbyist, having represented tribes in Minnesota and South Dakota. As a lobbyist Reid has over a decade of experience lobbying on behalf of tribes in Minnesota and South Dakota before both the state legislature and Congress. Each year, Reid has successfully passed a variety of state and federal tribally-related policies – ranging from the Nelson Act to the Indian Child Welfare Act. Additionally, Reid has extensive experience in the area of campaign finance and election law, serving as adjunct faculty at the University of Minnesota Law School. Reid has also authored articles and given numerous presentations on Minnesota and federal election law, and notably, the applicability of state and federal election law to Native nations.
