Black Hawk, SD — Our community has not valued input from youth or helped them connect to the community in a meaningful way to encourage civic engagement. I want to find ways to bridge the gap between city, school and community areas so that key leaders will invite youth to share their perspective in the decisions that impact them, and will engage and motivate them to become leaders in the community. Through my fellowship, I hope to help our community view its youth as resources for improving the quality of services and life in our community, and to motivate youth to engage and connect with the community in a meaningful and civic way, making it a better place for all.
