Minneapolis, MN — Forced removal of the Dakota people from their lands following the 1862 Dakota War led to a devastating loss of cultural knowledge. I will help recover an important aspect of our cultural identity that cherishes indigenous foods and medicines, especially seeds, as central to our culture. By helping my Dakota community recover our stories and traditional knowledge around food, we can collaborate in sharing and protecting this knowledge as a way of improving health in our communities.
