Bemidji, MN — Native Nations Rebuilders Program (cohort 5) - Curtis’s father is Charles Buckanaga of the sturgeon clan from the village of Pine Point on the White Earth Reservation, and his mother is Carol White of the bullhead clan from the village of Sugar Point on the Leech Lake Reservation. Both of his parents were lifelong educators. Curtis is currently pursuing his degree in indigenous leadership from Leech Lake Tribal College. He is a resident of Bemidji, Minnesota, where he has been a community organizer for the past five years. He currently works in the office of the District Three Council Representative of the Leech Lake Band. Curtis is married and has seven children.
