Fargo, ND — Native Nations Rebuilders Program (cohort 6) - Chelsey Luger is an advocate for Indigenous health and wellness. She is Ojibwe (Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa) and Lakota (Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe), and grew up in Fort Yates and Grand Forks, North Dakota. She currently works as the project coordinator for the Seven Generations Center of Excellence at the University of North Dakota. In this role, she recruits Native students for graduate studies in behavioral health and works on improving awareness of the need for American Indian behavioral health professionals. She is also a writer for Indian Country Today Media Network and the Huffington Post, where she spreads ideas about health and wellness in Indian Country. She is currently working with several friends from around Indian Country on designing wellforculture.com, an information source and an online community for young Native people who are committed to decolonizing foods and Indigenizing fitness. She earned her BA in Native American studies and history from Dartmouth College in 2010 and her masters in journalism from Columbia University in 2013.
