Bob Sutton is a South Dakota native who serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer for Avera Health in Sioux Falls. Hailing from the Heart of the Hills, Bob is a Hill City High School graduate, who received a BA in Political Science and a Master’s of Public Administration from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. He spent 25 years in Pierre, SD, serving as an association executive and lobbyist for county government, the energy industry, and the financial services industry. He started with Avera Health after serving as the president of the South Dakota Community Foundation for ten years.
For over a decade, Bob worked to connect philanthropic South Dakotans with the organizations and causes making a difference in our state. Making these connections and raising the awareness of the power of philanthropy has resulted in quality of life improvements for the citizens of South Dakota.
Sutton serves as the president of the South Dakota Board of Regents, vice-chairmanof the USD Discovery District, and on the board of directors for the Hill City High School Scholarship Foundation.
Bob and his wife of 26 years, Lori, have two children, Madison, age 19 and Matthew, age 17. In his spare time, Bob enjoys golf, hunting, and reading historical and contemporary political theory.
